Don Rider
Don has over 18 years of sales and marketing experience in
Europe and Asia working in senior executive roles for News
Corporation, TIME Warner, Thomson Corporation and Global Sources
(formerly Asian Sources Media).
Over the last 11 years in Asia he has lead some of the most
successful publishing initiatives in the region. In particular
he conceived and launched Guo Ji Shang Lu, now the leading
business magazine in China. He also ran both Traveler and
Hong Kong Business magazines and in each case significantly
increased revenues so that both titles became profitable for
their first time.
Don moved into the Internet world back in 1995 when working
at Global Sources. He was responsible for the launch of the
Travel and Trade Sections of the web site, which billed US$315,000
revenues in the first 12 months through blue chip advertisers
like Cathay Pacific, OOCL, Hyatt Hotels, Shangri-La Group
and DHL. In most cases this was their first significant investment
on line.
In 1999 Don joined Expertweb Ltd., (a full service Internet
Consultancy based in Hong Kong). He was responsible for transforming
their business strategy into providing Internet strategy and
on line marketing solutions for a number of major clients
including, British American Tobacco, Intel, Schenker International
and Kroll Associates.
If he gets any spare time you can usually find him doing something
rugby related and he is now in his third year as Chairman
of the Hong Kong Tens rugby tournament that precedes the Hong
Kong Sevens in March.
